Spring time! If you’re reading this blog post it probably means that the summer is getting warmer and the skies are getting bluer.

For where I live, the weather is switching from 20 degrees to 40 degrees. Which unfortunately, is a big deal to us Michiganders. When those first 60 degree days pop out up in the north, you will see more people than you have for months.

You cannot waste a day like that outside. It is a must to go for a nice walk, sit on a patio and have a drink, OPEN the windows!? It’s heavenly.

With the warmer weather and the sunshine of course means that Easter is not far away as well. What better to go with an Easter Egg Hunt and a family party?…an Easter Themed Charcuterie Board of course!

Holiday themed charcuterie boards are the most fun to make. They aren’t fancy or bougie…they are colorful and fun for the occasion. If you need a charcuterie board- I would pick this one from Amazon. It is flat and easy to work with. A lot of the others have ridges, shapes, etc. that I find hinders you when you are designing.

For this board, color is most important. While at the grocery store take note of the colorful Easter candy that is being put out. This will be great filler for the board and will give that “spring feel.”

To save money, I went through my own and my mom’s (thanks, mom!) Easter decorations to add to the board. The meats and cheeses needed for charcuterie boards can get expensive, so cutting costs to use what you have for decorations is a huge tip for keeping costs down.

One of my focal points for this board was to build a Cheese Carrot. Using softer cheeses, I was able to make a carrot out of Boursin Cheese. They have different flavor Gournay cheeses that are delicious. Their cheeses are soft so you are able to mold into any shape you want. I used two 5.2 oz blocks and morphed them together. This made a pretty big carrot, so if you have a smaller charcuterie board or don’t want all of the focus on it, one 5.2 oz block would make a cute little carrot.

For the top, I used fresh parsley- without this it would look like an orange nub!

One of my favorite cheeses that I like to add to my “festive” charcuterie boards is Brie. It is fun to use a cookie cutter and dig out the top layer into a holiday shape and fill with jam or sprinkles. However, due to the complexity of the bunny cookie cutter I wanted to use, I decided not to dig out the top layer of cheese. I made the indent and thought it looked cute just like that.

If you are interested in seeing a charcuterie board where I did fill the top of the brie with jam, click here for my Halloween Themed Charcuterie Board. I used a pumpkin cookie cutter and used orange jam and chocolate chips to make a jack-o-lantern.

A little history- Charcuterie is a French term for cooking that is devoted to meats and cheeses…which is why most charcuterie board’s focal points are meats and cheese. However, in holiday themed boards, I like to throw that idea out the window. It is Easter and springtime…we need bright colors!!

Nothing fulfills that more than candy! Easter and Halloween boards are my favorite because you get to add elements that you normally wouldn’t other times of the year. Choose candy that compliments the color of your board. I decided to get different color bunny Peeps to place around my board. Love them or hate them, Peeps are a staple to Easter. The colors and the little chicks and bunnies are perfect to spice up this board. I also chose to use pastel M&M’s, as the colors were a perfect addition to this charcuterie board.

I always wish that I could give more tips when it comes to placement on charcuterie boards. Telling you what to buy and fun tricks to make the board festive are easy…but where to place the particular things on your sized board?! I wish I could go to each person’s house and play around with their items…but unfortunately, that’s not possible.

My advice would be to shuffle things around until it fits a position that you like. Charcuterie boards are like art. If you like the way it looks, it will be a hit at the party that you are bringing it to!

Let me know if you try your own holiday themed board and send it to me on Instagram or Twitter! I would love to see them!
